When you exercise - whether it is martial arts or fitness - you will always be exposed to injuries. With the correct training, you strengthen body and soul through training. But unfortunately there will always be some wear and tear on the body that you never get over. This wear and tear can be prevented with the right equipment. The RICE concept
For general injury treatment in martial arts and fitness, you can never go wrong with ice packs and tape. This is the most used in the treatment of regular injuries during training. The most frequently seen injuries are sprains and sore joints. This is treated using the RICE concept. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. This must be understood as follows:
Rest = Rest. As soon as the injury has occurred, it is important to rest until any swelling has subsided and until you have full movement in the joint again. This may take one to several days.
Ice = Throw ice on. Max 20 minutes at a time. The ice helps to reduce swelling so that blood circulation remains optimal.
Compression = Compress the affected area. Compression helps reduce swelling.
Elevation = Raise the affected area above heart level. This prevents too much blood from flowing to the area and therefore prevents swelling.
RICE must be started immediately after the injury has occurred. The sooner you come across it, the more effective it is!
